Oil on Canvas Panel
This is the third and final painting of the clementine series, painting the impastos in these paintings has been so much fun!  I'm learning so much meshing a well blending painting to a textured painting, I'm seeing that a good blend of the two has more an appeal that I like.  I'm excited to start a new painting where I can implore this practice with a different subject.
I started with a dry brush approach as I usually do with all my paintings using no mediums and a bit of raw umber on the brush to duplicate a pencil mark.  After the drawing is completed I started with inside of the tangerine going from the dark values to the lighter values, I used ivory black, cadmium orange,  and cadmium red light.
Then I used cobalt blue, cadmium yellow light and titanium white to add the details in the shadow area of the tangerine.  After the shadows and reflected lights were completed I started on the lighter values of the tangerine using cadmium orange, cadmium yellow light, and titanium white, painting the impasto areas of the tangerine are so much fun to do.
Then I started on the peals starting with the mid darker values using a dry brush approach of cadmium orange, ivory black, cadmium yellow light, cobalt blue and titanium white.  I then added the base before adding the highlights to the peal because I need to state the edges, I used cobalt blue, burnt umber, cadmium orange, and titanium white.
Then I added the background using cerulean blue, naples yellow, and titanium white then I added the highlights after the background was stated using just titanium white/
This is the finished picture it was fun painting this series of clementines, I appreciate you stopping by and viewing!
